ಚಿಕ್ಕೋಡಿ ನಗರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ
ಚಿಕ್ಕೋಡಿ ನಗರವು ಒಂದು ತಾಲೂಕಾ ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಸ್ಥಾನವಿದ್ದು, ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಜನಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯು 2001ರ ಜನಗಣತಿಯ ಪ್ರಕಾರ 32,820 ಇರುವುದು, ಈ ಪುರಸಭೆಯು 1973 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಾಪನೆಯಾಗಿದೆ. ನಗರವು ಸುಂದರವಾದ ಬೆಟ್ಟ-ಗುಡ್ಡಗಳಿಂದ ಸುತ್ತುವರಿಯಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿದೆಯಲ್ಲದೆ ಇದು 6.85 ಚದುರ ಕಿಲೋ ಮೀಟರನಷ್ಟು ವಿಸ್ತೀರ್ಣತೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದೆ. ಇಲ್ಲಿಯ ಸರಾಸರಿ ಉಷ್ಣತಾಮಾನವು ಕನಿಷ್ಟ 15ºc ದಿಂದ ಗರಿಷ್ಟ ಎಂದರೆ 42ºc ವರಿಗೆ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ. ಜೋತೆಗೆ ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ವಾರ್ಷಿಕ ಮಳೆ ಪ್ರಮಾಣವು ಸರಾಸರಿ 826.64 ಮಿ.ಮಿ. ನಷ್ಟು ಇರುತ್ತದೆ. ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಖ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಕಬ್ಬು, ತಂಬಾಕು, ಮೆಣಸಿನ ಕಾಯಿ, ಶೇಂಗಾಗಳನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಯಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಚಿಕ್ಕೋಡಿ ನಗರದಿಂದ ಬೆಳಗಾವಿಯು 72 ಕಿ.ಮೀ. ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ತಾಲೂಕಾ ನ್ಯಾಯಾಲಯವು ಕಳೆದ 150 ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರ ಕುಂದು-ಕೊರತೆಗಳನ್ನು ನಿವಾರಿಸುತ್ತ ಬಂದಿದೆ. ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಪಿತ ಮಹಾತ್ಮಾ ಗಾಂಧಿ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂವಿಧಾನ ಶಿಲ್ಪಿ ಡಾ::ಬಿ.ಆರ್.ಅಂಬೇಡ್ಕರ ರಂತಹ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರ ನಾಯಕರು ಈ ನಗರಕ್ಕೆ ಭೆಟ್ಟಿ ನೀಡಿದ್ದಾರೆಂದು ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಲು ಸಂತೋಷವೆನಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ನಗರದಲ್ಲಿ ಈಗ ಸುಮಾರು 74 ಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಸರಕಾರಿ ಕಚೇರಿಗಳು ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸುತ್ತಲಿವೆ. ಇವೆಲ್ಲದರ ಜೋತೆಗೆ ಈ ನಗರವು ಉತ್ತಮೊತ್ತಮ ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಗುಣಮಟ್ಟದ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣವನ್ನು ನೀಡುವದರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಕೇಂದ್ರವನಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದೆ. ಈಗ ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಅನುಕೂಲತೆಗಾಗಿ 25 ಪ್ರಾಧಮಿಕ ಶಾಲೆಗಳು, 3 ಪ್ರೌಢಶಾಲೆಗಳು, 3 ಪದವಿ ಪೂರ್ವ ಕಾಲೇಜುಗಳು, 2 ಪದವಿ ಕಾಲೇಜಗಳು, 1 ಪಾಲಿಟೆಕ್ನಿಕ ಕಾಲೇಜ, 3 ಬಿ. ಎಡ್ ಕಾಲೇಜಗಳು, 1 ಬಿ.ಪಿ.ಎಡ್ ಕಾಲೇಜ, 3 ಡಿ.ಎಡ್ ಕಾಲೇಜಗಳು, 2 ಐ.ಟಿ.ಐ. ಕಾಲೇಜಗಳು, 2 ಜೆ.ಓ.ಸಿ. ಕಾಲೇಜಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ 1 ಕಾನೂನು ಕಾಲೇಜು ಇರುತ್ತವೆ.
ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಅನುಕೂಲತೆಗಾಗಿ ಒಂದು ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರ ಅಸ್ಪತ್ರೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಪಶುಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ ಒಂದು ಪಶು ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ದವಾಖಾನೆ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ. ಚಿಕ್ಕೋಡಿ ಪಟ್ಟಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿ ಗುರುವಾರ ಸಂತೆಯ ದಿನವಾಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ಎಲ್ಲ ಕುಂದು ಕೊರತೆಗಳನ್ನು ಒಂದು ಕಚೇರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿವಾರಿಸಲು ಸರಕಾರವು ಈಗಾಗಲೆ ನಗರದ ಬಸವ ವೃತ್ತದಲ್ಲಿ ಭವ್ಯವಾದ ಮಿನಿ ವಿಧಾನಸೌಧವನ್ನು ಸಹ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿದೆ. ಇಷ್ಟಲ್ಲದೆ ಉತ್ತರ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಜೀವನದಿ ಎನಿಸಿಕೋಂಡಿ ಕೃಷ್ಣೆಯು ನಗರದ ಉತ್ತರ ಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಹರಿದು ಅದರ ಸುತ್ತಮುತ್ತಲಿನ ರೈತರಿಗೆ ಬೆನ್ನಲುಬು ಎನಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದೆ.

Brief about Chikkodi TMC
The Town Municipal Council Chikkodi was constituted in 1973. The town’s population as per 2001 census is 32,820. The town has an area of 6.85 sq kms and is situated amidst hills; temperature varies from a maximum of 42˚C to a minimum of 15˚C, maximum average rainfall annually is 826.64mm. Major connectivity by road from the district head quarters Belgaum is 72 kms. Local magistrate court has been solving the public grievances for a period of 150 years till date and in the past it has been visited by legendary personalities like “Mahatma Gandhi” and “Dr. B. R. Ambedkar”. In Chikkodi town more than 70 government offices are presently functioning, it is an education hub since good and standard education is imparted through good education institutes like Engineering and Paramedical colleges in the town. The educational facilities in Chikkodi town has 25 Primary Schools, 3 High Schools, 3 Pre-University Colleges, 2 Degree Colleges, 1 Engineering College, 1 Polytechnic College, 3 B. Ed Colleges, 1 B P Ed College, 3 D. Ed Colleges, 2 I.T.I. Colleges, 2 J. O. C. Colleges and 1 Law College. The government has already constructed a huge and beautiful mini vidhan soudha at basav circle. If all government works could be completed at one place then it would be very convenient for the public. Krishna River flows to the northern side of the town; the river water forms a useful resource to grow a good harvest to the farmers. Town is situated at the Karnataka border.
